Tonight, I got to experience something so freaking beautiful! I went down to the Brooklyn Promenade and watched the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular. It was something to see! Last minute changes sent me alone, but I'm so glad I went! I've always enjoyed the fireworks on the fourth, but tonight, I stood there and soaked it all in! I am in New York City. On the Fourth of July. Standing amongst millions of New Yorkers and thousands of tourists watching this amazing show of lights above the city. It was so amazing watching this display of lights splayed above where the World Trade Centers used to stand. To honestly show our exuberant gratitude of freedom. I'm posting some photos and a video I clipped from my Instagram (for some reason my 2 minute long video won't load). But first, I had to insert this clip from The Sandlot because it's exactly how I felt standing there. I could hear Ray Charles singing...
"And you know when I was in school,
We used to sing it something like this, listen here:
Oh beautiful, for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountains majesty,
Above the fruited plain,
But now wait a minute, I'm talking about
America, sweet America,
You know, God done shed his grace on thee,
He crowned thy good, yes he did, with brotherhood,
From sea to shining sea."

So, with a little nostalgia, here's some photographs from tonight and a quick clip of the show!
Seeing as my #100daysofNYC has gotten messed up because of my hiatus, here's to spending the Fourth of July in NYC! Proud to be an American!
