West Village Roaming #100daysofNYC

We decided to hang out like we lived in the West Village or something, lol. Ya know, one can dream :)

I gave them a mini TV/Movie tour of the area, as well!

We started the day off having lunch at Cowgirl. My mind was blown when I had to explain to Sam and Colleen what a Frito Pie was! For all you Yankees, it's a pile of Fritos topped with chili and cheese and all the fixins! Great to see Tracy Byrd's signed picture on the wall, LOL.

Scene: Sex and the City, Carrie and Miranda run into Steve and Aiden after they've split and they see the guys with their new girlfriends.

We stuck with the Sex and the City form and headed to Perry St to see Carrie's stoop. (Supposedly lived on the UES, the building stoop is in the West Village.)

Not too far away, I HAD to show them the Friends building. Cause, ya know, it's my favorite, lol. Bedford and Grove.

We headed over to Off the Wagon and they worked hard at being 20somethings and played beer pong, lol.

Right down the block, is Cafe Reggio where a scene from In Good Company was filmed. Remember that one? Topher Grace, Scarlett Johansen, and Dennis Quaid.

And my favorite of all, is when Sally drops Harry off in front of the arch at the beginning of When Harry Met Sally. Washington Square Park, last stop in the West Village.

Have to stick with When Harry Met Sally... Further east, getting into the East Village... Iconic moment... That scene...

More TV/Movie spots to come! Today is dedicated to all the moments that have been created in the West Village. Thank you, producers, for painting lives we want to live.

The Met! #100daysofNYC

Museum Monday was back on yesterday! I have been wanting to go to The Metropolitan Museum of Art since we moved here, and I finally got to take a day to do it! You MUST go!! Don't give yourself a time limit, though, as I spent almost four hours there! I still didn't even get to see everything! I knew I probably wouldn't be able to make it through the entire thing, so I sat down when I got there and made sure I hit my musts and plan on going back to finish it off!

What day is it? #100daysofNYC

Since I've taken a hiatus, and my countdown is all jacked up, I don't even know what day to put :)

After work today, I met Sam, Colleen and Ken in Greenwich Village at Off the Wagon on Macdougal Street. Great little place! There was a group of girls having a bridal day and decided to stop in and be college students again... Funnelling lol We had a good laugh! Then we HAD to make a sweet stop :) Molly's Cupcakes, we enjoyed your swings!

So, today is dedicated to the West Village and all the wonders of it that make us want to live there :)

God Bless America! NYC Fourth of July

Tonight, I got to experience something so freaking beautiful! I went down to the Brooklyn Promenade and watched the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular. It was something to see! Last minute changes sent me alone, but I'm so glad I went! I've always enjoyed the fireworks on the fourth, but tonight, I stood there and soaked it all in! I am in New York City. On the Fourth of July. Standing amongst millions of New Yorkers and thousands of tourists watching this amazing show of lights above the city.  It was so amazing watching this display of lights splayed above where the World Trade Centers used to stand. To honestly show our exuberant gratitude of freedom. I'm posting some photos and a video I clipped from my Instagram (for some reason my 2 minute long video won't load).  But first, I had to insert this clip from The Sandlot because it's exactly how I felt standing there.  I could hear Ray Charles singing...

"And you know when I was in school,
We used to sing it something like this, listen here:
Oh beautiful, for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountains majesty,
Above the fruited plain,
But now wait a minute, I'm talking about
America, sweet America,
You know, God done shed his grace on thee,
He crowned thy good, yes he did, with brotherhood,
From sea to shining sea."

So, with a little nostalgia, here's some photographs from tonight and a quick clip of the show!

Seeing as my #100daysofNYC has gotten messed up because of my hiatus, here's to spending the Fourth of July in NYC! Proud to be an American!

Brooklyn, Brooklyn take me in. #100daysofNYC Day83

Load the car and write the note.
Grab your bag and grab your coat.
Tell the ones that need to know...
we are headed north.

One foot in and one foot back,
But it don't pay to live like that.
So I cut the ties and jumped the tracks.
For never to return.

Oh Brooklyn, Brooklyn, take me in.
Are you aware the shape I'm in?
My hands they shake, my head it spins.
Oh Brooklyn, Brooklyn, take me in.

- Avett Brothers (I and love and you)

I'll never forget that feeling...
The rush of finally deciding to do something you've wanted to do for 10 years. The wild emotions of someone brave enough to do it with you, and the fear of having to tell your two biggest fans you're moving 1200 miles away...

The loading of the Uhaul, the tight squeezes goodbye, I will never forget that feeling. The 24 hour drive through many states, watching the sun set and rise again... Oh Brooklyn, Brooklyn, take me in.

*Sorry for going on a hiatus for a few days... I'm ready to go home, but I'll never regret moving here. It's something no one can take away from me :) So, today is dedicated to just the jump, and the fear of falling.

Day84 #100daysofNYC

Well, I've hit them all... LaGuardia, JFK, Newark... and I'm beginning to get used to their, essence? Lol

I always wanted to be a jet setter. Flying all over the world, traveling to far off destinations, taking photographs and making epic memories. I never thought the dream of spending so much time in an airport would lead to this... New York to New Orleans, New Orleans to New York, New York to New Orleans... You get the idea.

I guess I'm just getting used to this life. It's almost over. I'm gonna miss these flights, and all the perks that come with them, e.g. car service :)

So, it might be short, but I'm dedicating today to New York, NY - All Airports. Can't tell you how many times I've searched that on Kayak and Expedia. LGA, JFK, EWR. Thank you for having so many portals for people to funnel into this magical city.

My morning breakfast... Watching the pilot of Big Bang Theory. Headed to Louisiana. Life is good :)

Day85 #100daysofNYC

The big blue bag!

Yes, you can do this in many other cities, but you can't do it where I came from, and you can't do it where I'm going... I'm talking about mad IKEA shopping trips!!

For some reason it always decides to rain on the days I plan on going to Ikea, but I always power through. Getting on the D train, transferring to the R, and then taking the Ikea shuttle bus from 9th and 4th... I'm going to miss my solo shopping trips. If you've never been to Ikea, do it. Just for the sole purpose of experiencing it, do it. But... Be aware you might spend money on something you don't need just because it's SO CHEAP!

To our Brooklyn store: you make me so happy :)

Showroom? Check. Marketplace? Check. Self serve area? Check. Tape measurer? Check. You name it, they've got it.

Pick a bed and take all of it home!

Build a room!

Small space? No problem! They've got it all figured out for you!

So, today is dedicated to IKEA and it's enchantment that takes me in and allowing me to get lost for hours.
